Back in the racing world! I was planning to pace the Southern Utah half marathon but got a free entry a few days before and was able to cover my pacing spot. I wasn't sure what to expect since I had been planning to run at a 9:55 and wasn't sure what I was capable of. I've had a hamstring injury for months now and it has limited my speed work. I went in to it wanting to go fast and be in the 1:50 range. But, since time was not really that important, I ran by feel. It was hard, but great! Amanda was running as well. I started out fast on the downhill and kept checking on her because I thought she could have a fast race. I saw her not too far back around mile seven and decided to wait for her at mile nine. The last few miles were tough but fun as we pushed to stay ahead of the 1:50 pacers. She pulled ahead after a little sprint to stay ahead and I let her go because my hamstring was feeling it. I joined up with a lady with about half mile left and pushed each other in to the finish. I threw up.... First time right after a race but I didn't really get a good breakfast and my fueling wasn't the best. Overall, I completely enjoyed the course and loved the weather. I liked running fast and I ended up with a 1:49, Amanda's got 1:48 as a new PR!
